Bilim Educational Advising Center

To facilitate the dissemination of information on educational opportunities internationally, Educational Advising Center (EAC) was established in 1995.

Bilim EAC Mission:
The mission of the Bilim EAC is to ensure open and free access to unbiased, accurate and professional advice on educational opportunities abroad.

Today Bilim EAC is a part of the Corporate Foundation“ Educational Center “Bilim – Central Asia”. Bilim EAC is funded by Open Society Institute and the US Department of State.

Bilim EAC is an Associate Member of the international network of US government affiliated educational centers (Education USA Advising Centers network), and its status is approved by the US Department of State.

Bilim EAC personnel are professionals in the sphere of overseas education and most of them are NAFSA (Association of International Educators) members. The EAC staff annually attends professional trainings.

Bilim EAC has a well-developed network within Kazakhstan, which encompasses 3 regional centers in Aktobe, Karaganda, Shymkent, and partnerships with 50 universities.

Bilim EAC provides the following services free of charge:
• Consultations to visitors and public information sessions.
• Bilim EAC administers more than 27 scholarships for citizens of Kazakhstan and 17 scholarships for citizens of Uzbekistan for getting and/or continuing education abroad in leading American and European Universities including the Columbian and Washington Universities (USA), the Central European University (Hungary), the American University in Bulgaria, Oxford, Cambridge, Essex (Great Britain), the Lyons and Strasbourg Universities (France), the Bremen and Magdeburg Universities (Germany), etc.
• Bilim EAC delivers weekly lectures
• Bilim EAC has a library with books and manuals of various publishers (including Peterson's, Barron's, Longman, College Board, etc) on education abroad. Library recourses are up-dated regularly and include the following materials:
- catalogues of educational institutions in USA and other countries;
- preparation materials for TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, GED and etc;
- reference materials on education abroad issues;
- various manuals for English language self-study;
- fiction in English: graded reader with tapes and original;
- Periodicals: Economist, Newsweek, Time, National Geographic, Foreign Affairs.
• Bilim EAC also provides 2 computers with free Internet access (40 minutes per day).
• Bilim EAC shows films in English for those who would like to develop their language skills.
• English Club offers a unique opportunity to meet and talk to English speakers from around the globe in a friendly atmosphere. Club meetings are free.
